Keep your houseplants pet-friendly
Published on Friday 25th October
Did you know that some houseplansts - and garden plants - can be toxic to pets such as cats and dogs? Me neither, until I started selling so many houseplants and suddenly customers were asking me if a particular plant would be ok with their cat or dog? I have to be honest I was rather puzzled at first but did some research and found out why they were so concerned. Then recently a friend bought a puppy and again I was quizzed about the suitablity of certain plants for pets, and so an idea was born and from this Sunday a whole section of my concession at The Showroom Presents will be dedicated to Pet-Friendly Plants, where you will find houseplants that have been classified as non-toxic to cats and dogs, all together in one place.
Toxic plants can cause various ill effects such as vomiting or diarrhoea but they are generally only toxic if the pet injests the offending plant. If your cat or dog is happy to share your home with plants without trying to eat them, then you shouldn't have a problem and of course there are hundreds and hundreds of plants that have no harmful effects on pets at all and we will continue to stock these as usual.
As you may have gathered I'm not a pet owner, but if I were I'm sure that I wouldn't want to buy anything that could cause harm to my furry friend, so I hope that pet owners will appreciate our little pet-friendly plant section.
Come and see us this Sunday where we'll be sharing our launch with noo.boo.design who sell fabulouse pet-freindly furniture which is also stocked here at The Showroom Presents... We will be giving away goody bags to the first 10 customers who buy from either of us and there will be muffins and fruit juice for all.
We look forward to seeing you.
